Outstanding women participate in fourth-annual program

As a way to recognize the state's outstanding business women, Southwest Airlines, the Mississippi Economic Council, BellSouth Mobility and the Mississippi Business Journal, joined forces to sponsor the fourth-annual Mississippi's 50 Leading Business Women program.

Scores of qualified women in top management and leadership positions from across Mississippi were nominated. An independent panel of judges narrowed the list to the 50 women whose profiles were presented in an August 2000 special publication of the Mississippi Business Journal.

The women attended a half-day conference at Hinds Community College's Eagle Ridge Conference Center in Raymond, MS where they had networking opportunities and learned more about financial management and empowerment techniques in a number of seminars. Juanita Sims Doty of Lextron Corp. in Jackson presented the keynote address at the awards' luncheon.
